Suicide Prevention Month

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Suicide prevention begins with awareness, connection, and  support. Throughout Suicide Prevention Month, we recognize the importance of talking openly about suicide and mental health, reducing stigma, and ensuring that individuals know where to turn when they are struggling.

If you are concerned about someone, don’t be afraid to ask how they are doing. Listen without judgment, take concerns seriously, and encourage connection with a qualified mental health professional or crisis resource. A supportive conversation can be an important first step.

At the Center for Healing and Recovery, we are committed to providing a safe environment where individuals can seek support without judgment. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. This Suicide Prevention Month, let’s remind one another: asking for help is a sign of strength, support is available, and no one has to face a difficult moment alone.
